I promised that as part of our School at Home, I would create a blog for Sarah. This is our attempt and we'll do our best to keep it maintained and up to date.

Sarah Promoted to ILS First Grade Level One and Two
Before completing her final review, it was determined that Sarah was ready to be progressed to ILS First Grade Level One and this Year 2013-2014 was determined to be functioning much better in certain areas that allowed us to promote her to Second Grade due to her age and maturity while working. There are areas that need much more work and development; however and we will continue our progression into those areas and to continue exploring new lessons too. (There will be three levels until she is up to speed in all necessary areas of intellectual, social and educational preparedness and integration.) She is doing very well. We worked very hard yesterday and completed all of our work and today we are having our multi-media, health and hygeine day and time for teacher to complete necessary paperwork and documentation surrounding household, school and business. Sarah is being a very good girl and was even dancing with Mr. Noodle on Sesame Street Earlier.

My Latest School and Current Photos
Hello. Welcome back to school from Spring Holidays. We hope you have a good return and get to breathe some fresh air, see some beautiful plants and Spring flowers and the things that can bring people happiness (unless you're allergic, then we hope you have another way to safely do this.) We're back to classes as usual and have Easter to look forward to. Here are some recent pictures of me. Sarah Fay Norred.

The Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln
The Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln
Tomorrow is Abraham Lincoln's Birthday. This month, February, 2013, we will be studying our 18th and our 1st President, George Washington (Birthday 2/18) and wrapping up with a celebration by adding a third president to our wall of presidents and facts with a study of James Garfield (we stuck our hand in the folder and pulled a president out at random.) We also have Valentine's Day coming up on the 14th, 1/2 day of school (Early Dismissal on the 20th) and Report Card Day is on March 1.

Sarah's Recent Award in School
Not every day; however, but for the past two days, Sarah has really excelled and I've been exceptionally pleased to teach her. She's been receptive to learning and to watching the fun learning shows. She's been kept clean and we've had fun and had the proper home and school diet. I purchased her vitamins (that would still be necessary regardless of going outside or not. I just have to crush them up and put them in her allergy meds and other stuff in the morning when we get ready for school.) It's just like when you go out in the sun for any prolonged period of time, you have to purchase face lotion, sunblock and take her meds, communication, change of clothes, towel, wipes and incontinent supplies like her wipes, moisture barrier, changing pads, and, of course (thankfully we just ordered the next size up) pull-up pants. We are planning to start going out a bit more when we have our transportation issues fixed because we always got things done when we could cruise about town and see people and do things, stop in places, stroll about and meet different people. We were always more presentable, more social and able to work very well together. Often, we're tired just like anyone else and we have obligations at home that keep us here, but we do like to get out on nice days too and also have a way to call for help or to have a ride home if needed.
Sarah lost another baby tooth on top and has been doing very well. She brushes her teeth morning and evening before bed and even helps me to brush her teeth when she can and is in the mood. Since she hasn't gotten the concept of the difference of spitting (between rinsing and spitting food and drink - I dare not broaden my problems as of yet!) I continue to put a tiny pea size of very good anti-cavity, dentist recommended toothpaste on her brush (since swallowing that amount will only give her the same amount of flouride/flourine found in water treatment, and I also get the baby/toddler toothpaste that requires no rinsing and has a much better flavor. It's a shame that we can't find our usual Disney Princesses. It was not only a psychological matter, but also a matter of taste. Even though it's bubble gum, Sarah doesn't chew gum for reasons of - well, it's pretty obvious. I know she'd swallow it, not realizing what it's for, even if she were told and would have a cesium full of chewing gum to be removed later. Not a nice thought. We have a dental appointment coming up and let's hope for the best all.
