The Entrepreneurial Spirit of the American Citizen | Conservative News, Views & Books
The United States Constitution and The Charters of Freedom

Since we've been studying America and the ways we've had to structure, work, re-structure and survive through meager means for three years in a computer / design firm which we legally licensed (me and my 5 year old [at the time] little girl, investing massive amounts of walking time in the heat, about $1,700.00 in notary fees, certifications, updates, filings and making sure that taxes were paid, it is really pathetic that someone would want to take advantage of the fact that I've had to take off for a while to put my time into my child's health and education because she can't function at normal levels for her age due to 4-5 brain shunt revisions, a stroke and an acute brain tumor, eye surgery for strabismus, and numerous hours of physical, occupational and speech therapy, it seems pathetic that someone would try to pull a coup against the company and steal from themselves and others in this business to take the GENERAL purpose and narrow the field down to ONLY ONE VERY LIMITED area on the basis of some fool's ideal that "if the owner can't correctly spell the word "entrepreneur" on the IRS filing then how can you expect her to run a business and be responsible for money?  I don't believe this; however I've seen much more ignorant allegations against people than this in my life.  This isn't the first time.  One time even involved a beveled glass french door; however that's VERY PERSONAL and I can't go into details.  Our country was founded on the principal of entrepreneurship and no matter how many times it's mis-spelled on an IRS form, it seems that the agent that allowed the document's filing and didn't reject it based on a spelling error and "actually did their job by counting space and numbers, figures, and accuracy and precision based on evidence and facts which are both in documented paper form, filed and scanned into a database and backed up on multiple hard drives, how can one miss the basic principals of the great spirit of America.  They don't like our country and think that because people have to use spell checkers and dictionaries and were taught to free think and free write and to move on fast to either go back and edit and correct errors if you had time instead of trying to be "miss perfect", then you need to go find a country where you can live in harmony in a perfect little world where nothing goes wrong.  We founded our companies and have worked a hell of a lot harder than ONE SIMPLE SPELLING ERROR and really, if you look at varying languages, interpretations and changes in our vocabulary and system over the years, then you would know that the same words do, can and have had several spellings over the years.  I KNOW.  I learned to spell from actually reading an old dictionary and I saw the changes and the differences.  The reason was because I read an adult dictionary as a child and not a pictionary learning to spell with simple concepts.  No matter what, some situations are geared simplistically and no matter how simple you think, you're always specialized and no matter how long they have to wait on you, you've already passed them in literary comprehension ten-fold.  I'm proud to be who I am, what I know, what we've accomplished and am not going to accept being mentally brutalized by a spelling bee queen.  To tell you the truth, participation was NOT OPTIONAL.  My companies have done very well and I do know just exactly how much money we make because I don't even get to get out of our house due to keeping track of EVERYTHING.  My paycheck supports my end of the company instead of taking out loans from SBA, SCORE, or Federal Stimulus Monies.  My loans are establishments with local and reputable companies in very small and equitable amounts that have not been abused or defaulted on and I am a VERY GOOD BUSINESS-WOMAN.  This is ALL I have to SAY.  I'm proud to be a business-woman in my country and I refuse to stoop to the level of a fool with nothing good to say about me or my child other than ordering and demanding me to do their bidding.  My team is the best.  LLO'C

More of Our Fun and Interesting Videos

These are a few videos that are also similar to ones that we've watched through last school year and plan to continue this year.  Some have been more effective than others, but all around, we've learned a lot.

Word Girl is a pretty cute cartoon; however it's mainly used as a brain break between hard lessons if Sarah needs a change.
We did our own segment on the planets, studied SETI and other ideas of the universe, including extraterrestrial life, UFOs and got the chance to watch some movies which were fictional, but included themes like UFOs, aliens and had the opportunity to discuss them.  I won't mention what we watched to be able to give each individual the chance to pick their own favorites for their needs and structure and personal style.
We watch both amazing and interesting and amusing cartoons, cartoons that have been made out of books, old cartoons and black and white segments, movies, and historical accounts, movies, scientific segments and anything that can get the mind working and can find accompanying worksheets for correlation and review.  We go back with both math and concepts and words, vocabulary, sentences, books, reading, poems, review and other concepts to make it memorable and fun.....sometimes our days seem harrowing and difficult; however Sarah makes it through them and stays awake.  Sometimes she needs a few minutes for a nap (which is normal).  I count these blog moments as our extra-curricular school project that was started a bit late; but we did figure it out.

These are just a few of the types of learning videos and multimedia tools that are used in the class-room between worksheets, hands-on skills and normal sensory motor skills. We have arts, crafts and music and celebrate special days.

School has been out since June 2nd; however we've been watching Baby Einstein Videos, Old School Sesamie Street Videos that actually make sense out of counting and global thinking and relationships - however old, the sociological end of that can't be beat.  It teaches a child that there are other children in other countries around the world learning too.  She's an avid watcher of Super Why and other PBS programming and we take breaks to watch a few mini-series and other dramas that have been on recently.  Out television is ancient; however we haven't upgraded yet and maintain our current status with what we have.
Sarah's speech recognition, vocabulary and learning skills have improved dramatically and we hope that this continues and we can work on new goals this school year.  We are thankful for her advances and know that with repetition and introduction of new material, things will go far.  We have to work on ways to introduce new concepts to ideas that she has not taken an interest in and will just have to find a way to get her interested in her world and not someone elses'.  Things are possible, just how much we won't know until we are able to know.  Sounds redundant, but true.  For instance, these are examples of how we began learning basic addition.  We'll continue using concepts and even Sesamie Street's "Old School" (worked for how many children?)  - The cast and crew spent countless hours putting together a world-class series that really worked and it's still really good along with the "Electric Company" and other new ones out there that capture the child's attention.  I'm still looking for "3,2,1 Contact or similar science shows - She loves Sid the Science Kid."  LLO'C
